tanzania! zanzibar stone town

Our last group shot... saying goodbye to our "rafiki nzuri" (good friend) Felix

Waiting for our Coastal Air flight... they confiscated our waters, but not our last Kilimanjaro beer... IT'S KILI TIME!

We wished we had smuggled in a six-pack once the rain started pouring down and our flight was delayed for two hours (without communication about this)

The waiting area literally flooded... and Kili Time floated away...

The irony of boxes of water getting drenched by the downpour was not lost on us

Another poor soul uses Kili Time as a foot rest

After two hours of this, we were ready to get on our flight even if it was still pouring and thundering. No need to explain why this is safe!

We saw a rainbow as we finally flew to Zanzibar

And our pilot was cool

We were welcomed to Zanzibar's Stone Town with a sunny afternoon

Enjoying a "linner" at a cafe overlooking the harbor

Mmmmmmm spiced coffee...

I'm a commercial!

The title of this book is quite frightening to us now that we've seen hyenas in action... we don't recommend this book for your toddler

Many doors in Stone Town were outfitted with this type of "armor" to keep elephants away

Interesting trees

Fresh meat and seafood at the Stone Town park in the evening

Tons of vendors, locals, and tourists made this a great spot to look around (but we ate elsewhere...!)

The slightly scary Christmas decorations at Asmini Palace in Stone Town

I love the description for nutmeg. Who knew it was such a magical spice?

Shopping for spices in Stone Town's market... we supposedly got the "black man's price" of 500 shillings a packet (less than 50 cents)

"Welcome to Zanzibar"

Exploring the real Stone Town

They love Barack Obama here

Nick makes himself at home

Obama display above a shop, with newspaper headlines and pictures
