At Ras Michamvi Beach Resort... the "relaxing" part of our trip... or at least, it would have been if they had electricity

At least there are overpriced Serengetis here to see us through the dark and sweaty nights!

Monkeying around

The days were beautiful at Ras Michamvi, with great weather, lovely pool, and three different beach areas

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon

After a terrible night's sleep (summer in the tropics, no AC or fan, fun!), we revived ourselves with some excellent snorkeling in the coral reefs

I have a gorgeous husband :)

My toes poking out of my flippers

Once I got used to the psychological horror of taking a breath while under water, snorkeling was great... the coral and fish and seaweed were all amazing!

Nick had a great time, staying out longer than everyone else

We moved down to beach #2 for our second afternoon...

Since we barely slept anyway, Nick and I got up early on our last morning to watch the sunrise over the beach...

The clouds showed the rising sun before anything else

Just behind a cloud...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................

One of the best things about our resort was the prevalence of red colobus monkeys, particularly in the early morning. At 6 am, they romped freely about the resort, especially loving the covered walkways

Good morning to you too!

This one was busily eating from the tree right outside our villa

No monkeying around for this monkey -- look at that intensity!

How long is his tail?!?

One last Serengeti in the airport before heading back to Doha!
