On our way to Serengeti -- Kori bustard? Secretary bird? My notes are failing me... but it's a great shot anyway!

"Mzungo" = whitey

A beautiful view of the Ngorongoro Crater (to which we would return for exploration in a few days)

Couple shot of Leah and Dan

My favorite!

Zebras = donkeys with stripes

The adventurer!

Arrrrrr!

Our best shot of a cheetah... don't worry, we got up close and personal with the other big cats, you'll see

Giraffes made amazing silhouettes against the sky and plains

The giraffe is the national animal of Tanzania, as it is a "peaceful" animal

Love this front-back pose

Lion cub, sunning himself in the sun right by the main road in Serengeti!

And here's daddy, just on the other side

Enjoying our seats with extra padding

An elephant trunk extending upward is a sign of good luck

Can you spot the leopard in this photo?

Where's Dan's hat?

On our way to our lodging, we find a whole herd of giraffes grazing right by the road!

Amazing up close experience

Enjoying the pop-top

A beautiful sunset

At Ngome tented camp, where permanent tents were set up -- with an entire working bathroom attached to each! Flush toilet, sink with running water and mirror, and hot shower! This is my type of camping.

My Obama shirt was well received in Tanzania
